Squeak. Squeaksqueaksqueak. Can you hear that? That’s Maisie #387, finally enjoying the life she deserves!
Maisie is 8 years old and came from a neglect situation. She was the smallest of the group and the shyest, but she has come out of her shell and learned that humans have pats, cuddles, and access to all sorts of dog toys. She has one speed—slow!—and volunteers to test out all the furniture in your house to choose the most comfortable.
Miss Maisie is looking for a foster to adopt home where she can complete her heartworm treatment while MNBR covers the costs, then adopt her once she is heartworm free. MNBR has clinics in MN, IA, WI, and ND that adopters can use for treatment.
If you’re looking for a true companion who will stick by you (because she’s definitely not going to get up and run away), give Maisie a shot. She loves people and is dying to show off how great bassets can be.

Hey there, Delilah #861! This sweet 45-pound red-and-white hound spent her first 5.5 years living with five other bassets before being surrendered. She’d love to have at least one companion in her new home, to help her gain confidence and for snuggles.
Delilah’s quickly learning what being part of a smaller household means, going on walks, taking trips to the dog park, and meeting new people. She can be a little shy at first, especially with men, but when given the chance, she’ll make herself right at home.
Delilah is looking for a quiet home that will help her build confidence and give her all the belly rubs. A fenced-in yard is ideal, but as she gains confidence on a leash a tie-out or leash walks could work for her. Look into her gorgeous golden eyes and just try to resist.
Unfortunately, Delilah has tested positive for heartworm. She is looking for a foster to adopt home that will allow her to live with them while MNBR covers the cost of her heartworm treatment, then adopt her once she is heartworm free. MNBR has clinics in MN, IA, WI, and ND that adopters can use for treatment.

Maggie #864
Age: 6.5 years old
Color & Breed: Red/White Basset/Beagle Mix
Gender: Spayed Female
Weight: 56 pounds - Overweight
-
Maggie #864 is getting in shape for the summer (round is a shape…) She’s a 6.5-year-old red-and-white basset/beagle cross (maybe she’s shaped like a bagel bite!) She has very short legs and a very long body, but her ears are a little short for a basset. She is a little chubby at 55 pounds, but we try not to judge.
Maggie is perfectly courteous to the other dogs in her foster home but she really doesn’t care if they’re there or not and would be fine as an only dog with a family who’s there a lot to tell her how fabulous she is. She is not a fan of cats.
Although Maggie would prefer a lower-key chill household, she still needs someone who will keep up with her exercise program (and then snuggles after.) She’s a big fan of routine, and has a permanent smile on her adorable face.

Sweet Pinky was found abandoned on the side of the road back in May, unable to walk and barely clinging to life. Her gums were pale white and she trembled from the effort of just staying alive. She was rushed to an emergency clinic where she received a blood transfusion and was diagnosed with heartworm. For weeks she battled her way back from the brink, spending days or weeks at a time under hospitalization. She was scheduled to be spayed in early July, but her bloodwork had crashed since her previous visit and she was yet again hospitalized. Thankfully they found the cause, a horrible infestation of hookworms, and with regular dewormings she is finally stable and gaining weight.
Pinky’s fight isn’t over, as she still needs to complete her heartworm treatment. She is looking for a foster to adopt home that will allow her to live with them while MNBR covers the cost of her heartworm treatment, then adopt her once she is heartworm free. MNBR has clinics in MN, IA, WI, and ND that adopters can use for treatment.

There’s nothing quite like puppy love, and Bennett #872 has plenty to share. He loves making new friends, and little kids are his absolute favorite. That’s probably because, at 11 months, he’s just a baby himself! He’s red and white, the color of a Valentine. He’s currently 37 pounds with some room for growth.
Like many hounds, Bennett loves a walk with plenty of opportunities to stop and sniff. He’d be fine in any sort of yard situation. Even at his age, he’s allowed to free-roam his foster home. But he’s a responsible teenager and hasn’t had any house parties or raves while they’re away. He’s a straight-A student and is always on his best behavior. If you have a doggie tie sitting around hour house, Bennett would probably look great in it.
Unfortunately Bennett has tested positive for heartworm. He is looking for a foster to adopt home where he can complete his heartworm treatment while MNBR covers the costs, then adopt him once he is heartworm free. MNBR has clinics in MN, IA, WI, and ND that adopters can use for treatment.

Zinnia #884
Age: 6.5 years old
Color & Breed: Red/White Basset
Gender: Spayed Female
Weight: 49 pounds
-
Do you fantasize about sitting in a field full of flowers? Zinnias are beautiful, and that’s doubly true of Zinnia #884. Currently she’s a social bud, waiting to bloom with some care and love.
Zinnia was a breeder release and spent her first 6.5 years old making babies. Despite being undersocialized, she’s curious and does her best to clearly communicate her feelings. She lets you know when she’s uncomfortable—but also when she’s feeling safe, which is the best reward.
Zinnia loves being outside. She thrives in fresh air, and, if you’re someone who likes getting in their steps, you might find something in common with Zinnia. She wears a tracking collar and gets in 50-60k steps a day! She enjoys other dogs and wants to learn everything she can from them. She’s also catching up on those years of puppy bliss that she was robbed of—charge cords and electronics belong in the mouth, right?
This girl gets along well with other dogs and will need a confident friend in her new home and a fenced yard. We’re not sure on what she’s like with cats, but typically breeder releases don’t mind them. She’ll need patient people who are ready to play the long game. But that’s just gardening, right?

This poor little guy was found dumped and starving in a small town in OK. He is still underweight but he’s making strides towards being healthy again.
Unfortunately Jack has tested positive for heartworm. He is looking for a foster to adopt home where he can complete his heartworm treatment while MNBR covers the costs, then adopt him once he is heartworm free. MNBR has clinics in MN, IA, WI, and ND that adopters can use for treatment.
We will update his bio as we learn more about him.

Ella #890 is looking for her soul mate. That soul mate can be any age—she loves kids!—and can have other dogs and cats as long as they know Ella is equally as important. Sweet Ella is a tricolor basset who is spayed and weighs in just under 50 pounds.
At 6.5 years old, Ella knows all about leashes and crates and going outside, although she does seem to get scared easily in big, open spaces. That just means she’d be fine on a tie-out or walked, no fenced-in yard needed.
Ella lacks some confidence and seeks companionship with people. She likes to be near humans and allows them to tell her how amazing she is. She even likes to wait at the edge of the tub while you shower!
Ella is friendly and curious. She’s willing to learn if you’re willing to teach. If you’re looking for a new four-legged best friend, don’t let Ella slip by.
Unfortunately, Ella has tested positive for heartworm. She is looking for a foster to adopt home that will allow her to live with them while MNBR covers the cost of her heartworm treatment, then adopt her once she is heartworm free. Lady #895
Age: 5 years old
Color & Breed: Tricolor Basset
Gender: Spayed Female
Weight: 37 pounds
-
Lady #895 is a 5-year-old tricolor girl who weighs in just shy of 40 pounds. She came up from Louisiana from a breeding facility, and while her sweet personality is wonderful, she’s happy that she can finally spend some time on herself, rather than raising puppies.
Lady loves to find spots to nap around the house and prefers dog beds to people furniture. Her foster family trusts her to roam while they’re away, because, like any high-class hound, Lady knows not to get into things. She’s a little shy and she’d do well with a doggy friend to show her the best social circles.
A home with a solid routine, kind people, and no young kids (or loud noises) would suit this posh pup best. A fenced-in yard to keep her safe would be important, especially while she learns to trust new humans. But don’t let the seeming aloofness put you off. She could be a star of Dog-ton Abbey with her small size and demure attitude.

Anna #896 Adoption Pending
Age: 20 weeks old
Color & Breed: Tricolor Basset
Gender: Intact Female - Contract Required
Weight: 16 pounds
-
Anna #896 is an 18-week-old tricolor girl who currently weighs in at 16 pounds (sorry, no banana for scale.) She came up from a breeding facility in Louisiana and is thrilled that her new life will allow her to be a puppy, rather than a puppy-making machine.
Anna’s a bold puppy who is not shy or fearful of new situations, although stairs and walking on a leash are special skills she’s still working on. She doesn’t mind a crate and is easily bribed in with a treat or two. She loves attention and has decided that her favorite place to rest is at the top of the bed, right on top of pillows.
Keep an eye on your shoes, though, because Anna’s a shoe thief. She doesn’t damage them but, like any real sneakerhead, she likes to collect. Like a cat, anything that dangles is a fun toy.
Anna’s mom is Lady #895 and her father, Barry, is the last photo in her gallery.
MNBR does not spay/neuter puppies until six months of age. Intact puppies under 6 months old must be adopted in MN or within 250 miles of St. Paul in WI,

Louie #897 Adoption Pending
Age: 17 weeks old
Color & Breed: Red/White Basset
Gender: Intact Male - Contract Required
Weight: 15 pounds
-
Louie #897 was born in a breeding facility in Louisiana and is looking forward to his new life in the north. He’s a 15-week-old red-and-white boy who’s currently tipping the scales at 15 pounds. He and his sister Anna are great buddies, and Louie is integrating into his foster home’s pack of hounds
more every day.
Louie loves a meandering walk and would enjoy a fenced-in backyard to explore. He doesn’t mind hopping in his crate, especially when snacks are involved. (A slow feeder might be a good investment for his future
family.) He also does a little dance while he eats, circling his food bowl with every bite. He is a little nervous in new situations, although that could just be an excuse to be held and hugged.Louie would enjoy an active family who are ready for a spunky puppy who likes to explore. Is that you?
Louie’s mom and dad, Alco and Queenie, are the last two photos in his gallery.

Hampton #898 adoption pending
Age: 18 weeks old
Color & Breed: Tricolor Basset
Gender: Intact Male - Contract Required
Weight: 13 pounds
-
Hampton #898 is an 18-week-old tricolor basset boy who traveled to Minnesota by way of Louisiana. Hammy’s favorite activity is playing tug-of-war with the bigger dogs in his foster home. He has also recently learned how to do stairs, and he is dying to show you.
Hammy loves people and really attaches to them. He’d really enjoy humans who want to spend as much time with him as possible. He was sick
for a bit down south and is slowly gaining back strength and muscle, but that doesn’t stop him from pushing himself, especially when it comes to besting the labs in his foster home (shhh, don’t tell him that they let him win.)Hammy’s mom and dad, Barry and Summer, are the last two photos in his gallery.

Juniper #901
Age: 9 months old
Color & Breed: Red/White Basset
Gender: Intact Female - Spay Pending
Weight: 35 pounds
-
Juniper and her brother Moose came to MNBR after months of battling giardia and coccidia that their family just couldn’t get under control. They tried everything they and their vet could think of without success. With their own health issues getting worse, they decided to put the health of the pups first and find them a place they could get better.
We will update her bio after she is examined by our vet.

Moose #902

Color & Breed: Black/White Basset
Gender: Intact Male - Neuter Pending

Aurora #903
Age: 9 months old
Color & Breed: Black/White Basset Mix
Gender: Intact Female - Spay Pending 9/4
Weight: 25-30 pounds???
-
Aurora #903 is a 9-month-old
black-and-white basset mix. She was given away on Facebook when her former family decided that housetraining was too hard and left her tied outside to a tree all day instead. She’s now in foster care and is learning that meals come regularly, walks that include people are fun, and humans are always going to come back for her.
We’re not quite sure what Aurora’s
mixed with, but it’s with something that’s got some energy and loves to learn (border collie, maybe?) She can easily leap baby gates and stairs are no challenge to her. She’d really enjoy a fenced-in backyard and an active family who like to scope out the surroundings as much as she does.
If you’ve been looking for a basset but one that can keep up with the kids, Aurora’s just what you’re looking for. Give this sweetie a second chance that she definitely deserves.
