Emma #618 application in process
Age: 9 years old
Color & Breed: Tricolor Basset
Gender: Spayed Female
Weight: 42 pounds
-
Emma #618 has the best ears, and she’d love for you to scritch them! This 9-year-old dainty girl weighs 42 pounds. She spent some time in a breeding facility and can be shy but just LOOK AT THAT FACE. How could you not want to win her over?
Emma enjoys hanging out in her crate or anywhere with a good, comfy blanket. Because of her past, she needs a fenced-in backyard, but she enjoys a walk out on a leash too. She could be an only dog or part of a family. She’d likely be good with older kids as long as they’re patient with her. She can be a little more shy with men, but she’s doing really well with her current foster dad.
Emma does a little happy dance when her foster family comes home or when she’s very excited about something. She enjoys variety in her diet and has a special circle of joy reserved for the choicest morsels.

vanilla #927
Age: 6.5 years old
Color & Breed: Tricolor Basset
Gender: Spayed Female
Weight: 37 pounds
Requires: Fenced yard and confident companion dog
-
If you’re looking for a sweet, mild companion look no further than Vanilla #927! This 6.5-year-old tricolor basset is looking for her forever home with someone who appreciates her low-key demeanor. Nilla was dumped at a shelter in WI in July of 2025, pregnant, by the puppy mill that held her hostage for 5 years. After her puppies were whelped, the shelter reached out to us for assistance as Vanilla was undersocialized and needed more one-on-one help. She joined MNBR in October of 2025, and she continues to wait for a person that has the patience and love to provide her the forever home she deserves.
Nilla is a bit contrary. She wants to know where you are and will follow you from room to room until you settle in. Once you do, she is happy to settle in with you, on her end of the couch, and just relax, but she isn’t overly interested in being petted. While she is very athletic and can easily get upward of 30,000 steps a day, she is happy to snooze on your bed or couch while you are at work all day as long as she has a dog buddy to keep her company. Because of her history, she requires a home with a fenced-in yard and a confident companion dog. She would love another dog that would let her snuggle with them and teach her how to dog. She is house trained, leash trained, and crate trained, though she doesn’t prefer the crate.
Vanilla is still learning how to relax and trust. With time (and enough Easy Cheese), she’ll be a wonderful companion to someone as low-key as she is. Add some Vanilla to your house!
Orchid #967
Age: 6 years old
Color & Breed: Red/White Basset
Gender: Spayed Female
Weight: 41 pounds
-
Orchids bloom with care, and Orchid #967 is ready to thrive. This 6-year-old red-and-white female came from a commercial breeder and is ready to let her guard down and love with her whole heart.
Orchid is learning many new things, like walking on a leash, getting housetrained, and what the heck is making those weird loud noises she doesn’t like.
Orchid LOVES stuffed toys and enjoys the company of other dogs. She could adjust to any kind of yard situation, although a fence would be best since she’s still a little shy. A quiet home full of toys and patient people is just the type of “greenhouse” Orchid needs.
Peaches #973
Heartworm Postive
Foster to adopt pending
-
Peaches came to MNBR as a private relinquishment. She is dog friendly.
Unfortunately, Peaches has tested positive for heartworm. She is looking for a foster to adopt home that will allow her to live with them while MNBR covers the cost of her heartworm treatment, then adopt her once she is heartworm free. MNBR has clinics in MN, IA, WI, and ND that adopters can use for treatment.
We will update her bio as we learn more about her.
Bellamy #975 & Cornelius #976
Age: 7.5 years old and 9.5 years old
Color & Breed: Tricolor Bassets
Gender: Neutered Males
Weight: 60 pounds & 47 pounds
-
Things are best in pairs, and Bellamy #975 and Cornelius #976 are living proof! These bonded basset boys are looking for a forever home willing to take on two.
Bellamy is 7.5 years old and weighs 60 pounds. He’s a gentle soul who enjoys the company of other dogs, especially his bestie. He loves to sniff and explore, and would love a fenced-in yard if possible, to take in all the smells. When people are gone, he and Cornelius are trusted in a restricted area. Bellamy’s the first to greet you when you return. He enjoys sitting in a chair and looking out the window. His foster family says he looks just like the cartoon character Droopy!
Cornelius is a full basset but has a more beagle-y face. He’s 9.5 years old and weighs 47 pounds. He’s his BFF’s sidekick, especially when wandering the yard, but (unlike some bassets!) he also follows human directions. He’s friendly and kind, and neither he nor Bellamy are vocal hounds. Both boys are patient with people and with other dogs. They are also housetrained. Cornelius has undergone bladder stone surgery since coming to MNBR and is recovering nicely.

Muffin #977 application in process
Heartworm Positive
Age: 1 year old
Color & Breed: Tricolor Basset
Gender: Spayed Female
Weight: 44 pounds
-
Ding! Muffin #977 is ready! Muffin is a one-year-old pup who came up from a shelter down south. She’s bouncy and looking for a fun canine friend to keep her busy. Unlike some southern transplants, Muffin absolutely loves the snow and is so happy it exists.
Muffin is learning new things, like how to go up and down stairs and going outside on a regular schedule. She enjoys a spoonful of peanut butter, especially if she’s expected to get into her crate. She can also be bribed with belly rubs, ear rubs, and sweet smooches. She is a gentle soul and
would do well in any type of household (as long as they don’t have neighbors who might mind being serenaded by the National Basset Anthem, “Awoooo.”
Unfortunately, Muffin has tested
positive for heartworm. She is looking for a foster to adopt home that will
allow her to live with them while MNBR covers the cost of her heartworm
treatment, then adopt her once she is heartworm free. MNBR has clinics in MN, IA, WI, and ND that adopters can use for treatment. Muffin will also need a ulnar osteotomy once her heartworm treatment is complete.
Biscuit #978 application in process
Heartworm Positive
Age: 1 year old
Color & Breed: Tan/White Basset
Gender: Neutered Male
Weight: 47 pounds
-
Here, have a Biscuit (that’s Biscuit #978.) This 1-year-old tan-and-white boy came from a shelter in Oklahoma. He’s full of energy and curiosity! He weighs nearly 50 pounds and uses all of it to explore his surroundings (and search for snacks.)
Biscuit loves attention! He has no sense of personal space and thinks any time not hugging or snuggling is absolutely wasted. He gets along with the dogs in his foster home but could be a one-dog pack too.
Because he’s still young, he’s still working on his indoor and outdoor manners. He walks on a leash and is crate trained but would really prefer to wander and follow his nose. He gets mischievous when he’s bored, so a home with people who are home a lot (and have a lot of ideas on how to keep a busy young basset busy) is ideal.Unfortunately, Biscuit has tested positive for heartworm. He is looking for a foster to adopt home that will allow him to live with them while MNBR covers the cost of his heartworm treatment, then adopt him once he is heartworm free. MNBR has clinics in MN, IA, WI, and ND that adopters can use for treatment.

Flash #985
Age: 5 years old
Color & Breed: Tricolor Beagle
Gender: Neutered Male
Weight: 42 pounds
-
Are you looking for a new best friend? So is Flash #985! This sweet boy weighs 50 pounds, is neutered, house trained, and is as fast as a 5-year-old slightly-chubby beagle can be.
Flash eats and leaves no crumbs (which is part of his problem!) He’s on a weight loss journey, although he hasn’t yet been convinced yet that counter surfing and snacking on trash are not part of the plan. He loves to snuggle and is a Velcro dog, so if YOU don’t counter surf and eat out of the trash can, you may be his perfect person!
Flash is looking for a family interested in giving him pats and attention and, on occasion, cheese. He likes to sniff and explore but he’d probably also be okay in other backyard situations. He is respectful of the dogs in his foster home, but he’s much more enamored with people.
Flash isn’t a fan of when people leave. He will hop in his crate, but he’s going to cry about it. He’d rather people just stay home and hang out with him on the couch. He’ll also find all the tidbits on the floor that your vacuum missed.
Don’t sleep on applying for this guy—he’ll be gone in a flash! https://www.mnbassetrescue.com/adoption
Poppy #988 application in process
Age: 1 year old
Color & Breed: Red/White Basset/Beagle Mix
Gender: Spayed Female
Weight: 35 pounds
-
She doesn’t have seeds, but Poppy #988 is all bagel (beagle/basset)! Poppy is a 1-year-old red-and-white girl who weighs 36 pounds. She was a transfer from a shelter, where she was brought in as a stray. She’s a little shy at first, but once she warms up to you, she’s your new best friend.
Poppy would be fine with friends or alone as an only dog. She’s not quite sure how leashes work, but she’s figuring it out fast! She’d be fine with any kind of yard situation with a little more work. She’s got a lot of energy, which can be expected based on her age! But she’s crate trained, housetrained, and plays well at the dog park.
When Poppy is happy, she does a wiggly little dance. Imagine how much she’ll happily wiggle when we tell her she’s got an application in!Unfortunately, Poppy has tested positive for heartworm. She is looking for a foster to adopt home that will allow her to live with them while MNBR covers the cost of her heartworm treatment, then adopt her once she is heartworm free. MNBR has clinics in MN, IA, WI, and ND that adopters can use for treatment.

Nova #989 Adoption pending
Age: 5 years old
Color & Breed: Tricolor Basset
Gender: Spayed Female
Weight: 51 pounds
-
Nova’s owners fell on hard times and had to rehome all of their dogs. She is a vibrant, friendly dog that is good with kids and other animals. She is house trained and kennel trained and loves to cuddle and play fetch.
We will update her bio as we learn more about her.
Charlie #995
Age: 1.5 years old
Color & Breed: Tricolor Beagle
Gender: Neutered Male
Weight: 35 pounds
-
Do you love Snoopy but find your favorite characters are the kids? Charlie #995 is the best of both worlds and has double the main character energy! This 1.5-year-old beagle is 35 pounds of sniffing and snooping adorableness. He loves playing with other dogs and in a pile full of toys. He thinks cats are cool but is content to let them do their cat nonsense without him.
Charlie is good on a leash and would appreciate an active family to keep his beagle body and mind busy. He can be a little mouthy when playing so a family with older kids would be better. He’s eager to learn although can be stubborn as a hound when he forms an opinion.
Charlie’s got all the Good Things. He’s crate trained, leash trained, and house trained. He’d do best with a fenced-in yard, since his hound sense of smell and his beagle sneakiness sometimes gets the better of him.
Make this peanut’s day by applying for him at https://www.mnbassetrescue.com/adoption
