2023 Rescue Summary

Holdover Hounds: 14 (13 adults and 1 senior)

Due to medical reasons, not finding the right fit, or not being ready for adoption, these hounds were rescued in 2022 but not rehomed in 2022. Ensuring the health and well-being of each dog and matching them with a family that fits their needs and temperament are our top priorities, and sometimes that process takes time.

Intakes: 173 (56 puppies, 101 adults, and 16 seniors)

MNBR takes in dogs from private relinquishments, shelters, pounds, and breeder releases, both in and out of state. We prioritize local dogs but will pull from out of state when there are funds and foster homes available.

Adoptions: 169 (55 puppies, 101 adults, and 13 seniors)

MNBR uses a four-step approval process to find loving homes for each dog in our care; application, interview, veterinary or reference check, and a home visit. Our adoption area includes MN, IA, WI, ND, and SD.

Health & Welfare Expenses: $192,000

Prior to being matched with their forever family, MNBR ensures each hound is spayed/neutered, properly vaccinated, microchipped, and evaluated for any health or behavioral concerns. Expenses include wellness visits, vaccinations, spay/neuter procedures, dental procedures, surgeries, medications, heartworm treatment, heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, prescription food, boarding, training, transporting and much more.

Adoption Fees: $90,113
